Question by missy s: Orlistat taken a couple hours before conception-Will it harm baby?
Hello! My husband and I had sex after I had taken Alli, the over the counter weight loss drug, Orlistat. We weren’t planning on becoming pregnant, but now I realize that I was ovulating during that time and I may be pregnant.
My question is, will over the counter drugs taken at the time of conception, especially Alli (Orlistat), harm the fetus? Does it even come in contact with the fetus before implantation? I’m so worried and can’t find this question at all online. Please help! Thanks!

No…. it takes 2-3 days before the sperm even gets to the egg and it takes 6-12 days for the egg to actually implant into the uterus and for you to actualy become pregnant.
Then, it takes a couple of weeks before there is even a placenta.. the embryo doesn’t have a placenta at all at the begining so nothing you ingest can harm it at that time.
You’re fine.
