Question by miss impulsive: Is Alli a healthy way to lose weight?
I ordered Alli to help me lose the weight I need to. Yesterday as I got it in the mail I also got news that a close friend of mine died of a heart attack in conjunction with anorexia. I am concerned about being healthy and losing weight the right way, especially now. Who has tried it and can offer an answer?
Please only respond if you have taken it before or know someone who has taken it. I don’t want to hear what you’ve “heard” one way or another. Thank you.

I would not use it. The side effects are TERRIBLE. When a product tells you that you will have uncontrollable gas with oily discharge and that you won’t have the ability to control your bowel movements—so you need to carry extra pants with you……I certainly wouldn’t use it.
And it does not help you lose much weight. You still have to diet and exercise while taking it. If you were to just diet and exercise and let’s say you lost 20 lbs. If you had done the same diet and exercise AND took Alli, you would have only lost 2-3 lbs. more.
Definitely not worth it. This is what I do.

i wouldnt use it ive heard that it makes you poop a lot
It will only make you poop a lot if you eat the wrong foods. After reading up on it (and I decided not to take it) I think that it is kinda like a Pavlovian effect.:
*you take your pill
*you eat a fatty meal such as McD’s.
* you crap your guts out, in front of people, and be embarrassed.
*SO THEN THE NEXT DAY*
* you take your pill
*you have a great salad
*No poopies for you.
All it is doing is “training” you to eat right using the Pavlov theory…
First, If you are already at a healthy weight or have had an eating disorder in the past anorexia, bulimia, etc. don’t take Alli.
Second, Alli is generally safe. It doesn’t really get absorbed into the body. The main concern is that fat soluble vitamins will not get absorbed, so take your Multivitamin once a day.
Third, people who took Alli lost about 4-5 lbs more than people who didn’t over 12 weeks. Both using the same diet and exercise.
Four, keep the side effects in mind. If you eat a fatty meal you will have oily spotting. Make sure and were a panty liner the first few weeks after you start.
