Question by DT D: Can you write off tattoo removal treatments?
Are you allowed to right off tattoo laser removal treatments on your taxes as medical expenses? I had $ 1,700 worth of tattoo removal treatments this year because a tattoo i have was bothersome on my arm and regualr health insurance doesnt cover it.

My guess would be no because it’s a cosmetic issue, not a medical issue. A professional could verify that though as I could be wrong…I just don’t see any reason why it would be allowed.
You might be able to if the removal was required to help you get a job or if your employer requested that you remove it. Or, if you were having break-outs, irritation, dermatitis, or other reactions at the site, it would be a possible write-off. You may want to consult with your tax preparer, if you use somebody to do your taxes.
