Question by ebillar: Calories vs. fat: How does Alli work i it doesn’t address calories?
I’m confused about the role of fat grams and calories in weight loss. Most people say “cut calories and burn calories” by eating less and exercising, respectively. But makers of drugs like Alli seem to say they block fat grams. Do they affect caloric intake at all? How does decreasing fat grams compare with decreasing calories? Thanks.

each gram of fat has 9 kcal. This fat, while eaten, is NOT absorbed and is passed through your system (so they don’t count). normally, you’d absorb everything you eat, so if you swallow 100 cal, you absorb the same. but if 50 cals are from fat, then roughly 1/3 of the fat grams dont get absorbed, so the 100 cal you eat, really only affects you like if you had eaten 80 cal.

As you see, it isn’t a miracle cure, just an assist.

I have no idea what you are talking about. But I have a Tip

The calories from fat should be one third or less than the total calorie count on a product. Good luck with whatever you are trying to figure out.

I use Alli and as long as you watch your fat intake it works fine.

Alli is very bad for you and so are any other weight loss pills. Basically it’s a fat burner, and some of them just make it so that you can’t use the fat that you take in. So basically your body is starving because it can’t absorb the nutrients in your food and so it takes the fat from your…storage to get energy as a last resort. Your body cant take much of the fat from your fat” storage” so you feel low in energy ansd eat more, causeing you to worsen your bad eating habbits and become addicted to the pills.

my opinion- dont do any sort of fad diets.
they all tell u to intake less water, which makes you drop weight at an unhealthy rate. this dehydrates u
(for example, a sponge w/ water weighs more than a dry sponge)
later on all of the dieting will go to waste when your body attempts to obsorbe the most water it can. 60% of diet users go back to weighing more than they had in the first place within a year.

just eat healthy- tons of fruits and veggies.
if u crave carbs eat a sandwitch and stop at that.
foods rich in calcium prevent hunger
eat a ice cream cone instead of a large bowl.
excersise daily- 30 minutes of weights or whatever.
hope i helped! =]

No drugs w/o prescription please.

Eat only when hungry and not more than thrice a day. Nothing other than water in between. Include plenty of uncooked vegetables and fruits in each meal, preferably 50%. Chew each morsel at least 32 times to activate ur body to generate signals of hunger/fullness. Obey these signals.

Take light exercises and brisk walks regularly preferably twice a day.

U will achieve what u have not even dreamt and that too in a reasonable time. Do not be in a hurry.
